How come ichigo has trouble beating the 6th espada with bankai and hollow mask rest of question is in detail?

and kenpachi beats the 5th with basically the same strenght that he had when he fought ichigo who since then got considerably stronger with bankai but cant beat the 6th with just bankai isnt that stupid of the writer?????How come ichigo has trouble beating the 6th espada with bankai and hollow mask rest of question is in detail?
i agree with you. the writer really messed up the logic behind the power hierarchy in the series.

it's as if hollow mask is not stronger than bankai or shikai (the phase before bankai), which makes it useless. How come ichigo has trouble beating the 6th espada with bankai and hollow mask rest of question is in detail?
Well it was an unfair battle for Ichigo when he fought Nnoitra, the 5th Espada. Ichigo was already severly injured and of course tired after he fought and won against Grimmjow and then he had to immediately face Nnoitra.

If Ichigo didn't fight Grimmjow, and just faced off with Nnoitra he might've won. And Kenpachi's battle took the longest out of all the other captains. Or maybe Kenpachi was holding back a bit before when he fought Ichigo?
the reason why it took him so long to beat grim was because he was to caught up in thought about inoue, and that look she gave him when she saw that mask. If you go back to the early episode or the flashback she had after being told off by nell, you will see that she is worried that ichigo will end up like her oniichan, and ichigo is worried that she may consider him a monster. it was stated by one of the vizards that he will be abandoned by his friends when they found out, so i guess that is another reason why he was worried. and if it makes a difference, his mask came off before he defeated grim.
well as the first answerer said he was tired from his fight with grimmjow also he had not gotton used to the power of the mask. grimmjows the first guy he fought using the mask after he gained good control over it.
