I need to know if my Gas Mask Filter is expired/dangerous?

I got it at a Pawn Shop, and it was in it's original canister. The Canister reads,

Then, I was reading the Homeland Securities page on Gas Masks, and low and behold there was a picture of the exact filter I own. It says that if they're 10 years old they can have Chromium Toxicity levels that a very dangerous, but the way it talked about checking the age doesn't work for my container... Got any ideas?
