When wearing a gas mask can you suffocate without a filter? ?

I've been looking at doing a presentation while wearing a gas mask and was wondering can you suffocate without a filter for a gas mask? Also if there is a time limit or any other risks involved? When wearing a gas mask can you suffocate without a filter? ?
Without the filter it won't function properly as a gas mask.But no,you won't suffocate.There isn't any time limit except you have a tendency to get really hot while wearing one.When wearing a gas mask can you suffocate without a filter? ?
you will suffocate if the air intake valve is obstructed, this is where the filter threaded onto. regardless with or without a filter as long as there is air flowing freely thru this valve, suffocation is not really possible.





the only other risk is asphyxiation by lack of oxygen over time during prolong use such as possibily falling asleep and obstructing the filter, or over exertion.





but generally they are safe to use in almost any condition.
